A Tapestry of Belonging: Celebrating the Spirit of Telangana | [Sharath Kumar Ganji]'s Perspective

There’s a feeling I get whenever I drive back into Telangana—a sense of coming home that’s deeper than just geography. It’s the vibrant colors, the familiar sounds, the warm smiles, and the shared history that weaves us together. As someone who’s grown up here, I can tell you that Telangana isn’t just a state; it’s a feeling, a legacy, a part of who we are.

Festivals that Unite and Inspire

I remember as a child, the sheer joy of Bathukamma. Gathering wildflowers with my grandmother, singing ancient folk songs, and creating those vibrant, towering floral arrangements—it wasn’t just a tradition; it was a bonding experience. And Bonalu? The energy, the devotion, the community spirit—it’s an experience that stays with you forever. It reminds me that our festivals are the heartbeat of our state, connecting us to our past and to each other.

Art, Dance, and Music: The Soul of Our Identity

Our art scene is something else. From the warrior-like Perini Sivatandavam dance to the captivating stories told through Oggu Katha, there’s a unique creative spirit that defines us. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Cheriyal scroll paintings—the intricate details, the vibrant colors, the way they brought our history to life. These are more than just art forms; they’re a reflection of our soul.

A Taste of Home: Flavors that Define Us

And the food? Oh, the food! Hyderabadi biryani, Sarva Pindi, Jonna Rotte—every dish is a taste of home. Growing up, Sunday lunch was always a feast of flavors, stories, and laughter. Sharing a meal here isn’t just about eating; it’s about connecting, celebrating, and remembering who we are.

Handicrafts and Handlooms: Weaving Our Legacy

I’ve always been in awe of our weavers and artisans. The skill, the patience, the dedication—it’s truly remarkable. Walking through Pochampally, seeing those intricate Ikat patterns come to life, or visiting Nirmal and watching artists create those exquisite paintings, it’s clear that these aren’t just crafts; they’re heirlooms, woven with history and love.

Our Shared Voice: The Language of Telangana

Whether we’re speaking Telugu, Urdu, or our unique Hyderabadi Hindi, our language carries the weight of our history and the dreams of our future. Our poets, writers, and storytellers have given voice to our experiences, shaping a literary heritage that continues to inspire.

This is Our Home

So, as Telangana Formation Day approaches, let’s take a moment to reflect on what makes our state so special. It’s the people, the traditions, the art, the food, and the shared sense of belonging. Let’s celebrate our unique identity and take pride in being a part of this vibrant, resilient community.

Let’s show the world what it means to be from Telangana, and let’s continue to weave a future as rich and colorful as our past. Because at the end of the day,Telangana isn’t just a place on a map; it’s a place in our hearts. And that’s something to be truly proud of.
